In only a few years, Toulouse has earned a reputation as a dynamic city. Aeronautics, Space, electronics, IT and biotechnologies are the key words that explain how this impressive city has won its leading place in the economies of France and Europe. All this growth, however, has been achieved with full consideration for the quality of life; Toulouse is a gentle town, proud to show off its heritage and the busy cultural life that attracts seasoned connoisseurs and casual amateurs alike. Toulouse has the good fortune to be able to benefit as appropriate from the energy of youth or the wisdom of experience, boasting both France’s oldest Academy, the Académie des Jeux Floraux, and the newest, the Space and Air Academy, a town where you might bump into an astronaut visiting the Cloisters ofthe Jacobins or the Cité de l’Espace, where you can find both the art and the technology that will mark tomorrow’s world. “Discovering Toulouse is simple for anyone with eyes to see and ears to listen” Toulouse is set between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, 730 km (450 miles) from Paris, and as capital of the large Midi-Pyrénées region is France’s fourth-largest city. The Toulouse conurbation, with a population of 700,000 and healthy demographic growth, is now one of the largest metropolises in Southern Europe. The quality of life and gastronomic excellence of Toulouse make it a highly attractive city to live and work in, a city that sings and celebrates with the accents of South-West France. |
